About me

Erik Davidson

Hi, I’m Erik—wedding photographer, filmmaker, and the heart behind Erik Davidson Photography. With years of experience capturing love stories throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania, I’m passionate about telling the real story of your day: the laughter, happy tears, and all the candid in-between moments that make your wedding uniquely yours.

My journey behind the camera started in 2016, when I first discovered my love for visual storytelling through wedding videography. As a self-taught creative and technology enthusiast, I dove headfirst into learning everything I could—experimenting, making mistakes, and constantly pushing myself to grow. In 2017, I made the bold decision to leave college and pursue my dream full-time, pouring my energy into building a company rooted in honest storytelling and genuine connection.

Life has a sense of irony—today, I sit on the advisory board at the very school I left, CCM (County College of Morris), where I’ve come full circle as a guest speaker. Now, I share my experience with photography students, encouraging them to find their own voice and embrace the creative journey. Teaching, mentoring, and inspiring others have become just as meaningful to me as capturing unforgettable wedding days.

Driven by my love for photography and community, I opened a photo studio in Randolph, New Jersey. This studio is more than a workspace—it’s a place where I collaborate with couples to create beautiful memories, and where I work alongside up-and-coming creators, photographers, and videographers. I believe in fostering a space where everyone can learn, connect, and grow together.

When it comes to photographing weddings, my style is natural and unobtrusive. I focus on authentic emotion rather than stiff poses, always searching for those genuine, fleeting moments—a quiet glance, a burst of laughter, a happy tear—that will become cherished memories for years to come. My work has a warm, film-inspired feel that’s timeless yet true to who you are as a couple.

Beyond just taking photos, my goal is to make your experience easy and stress-free. From our first conversation to the final delivery of your images, I’m here to support you every step of the way, so you can relax and be fully present for every moment of your celebration. I also offer hybrid photo and video coverage, allowing you to relive your wedding from every angle—all captured by one storyteller who truly cares.

I’d love to learn about your story and help create images that feel as real and meaningful as your love. If you’re looking for someone who blends artistry, passion, and a personal touch, I’d be honored to help you capture your day.

Located in North Jersey

My office is located at 425 NJ-10 Randolph NJ 07869. I am a founding partner with my dedicated videography brand ApertureAlley LLC.

Even though I’m based in New Jersey, I’m always on the move—traveling throughout the state, across New York and Pennsylvania, and sometimes even beyond. Life as a wedding photographer means being ready to go wherever your story takes me. (And yes, if you see a white cargo van pull up, that’s me—I bought it in 2023 with dreams of turning it into a “van life” adventure, but for now, it’s just my trusty photo-mobile sometimes!)

I rarely, if ever, charge a travel fee. If your wedding does require something extra, I’ll always let you know upfront before any contract is signed.

ApertureAlley LLC VS Erik Davidson Photography

ApertureAlley LLC:

You’ll work with a larger, experienced team led by me as CEO. ApertureAlley is built for higher-volume events, offering multiple photographers and videographers, polished processes, and a wide range of creative services. It’s a great fit if you want the reliability, resources, and flexibility of a bigger company with the ability to cover large weddings or events from every angle. ApertureAlley is very much videography focused and has always been focused on wedding films rather then photography.

Erik Davidson Photography:

This is my boutique, one-on-one experience. I book fewer weddings each year so I can focus on the details and provide a more personal, hands-on approach. While you work directly with me throughout the entire process, you still benefit from the full support and resources of the ApertureAlley team behind the scenes. It’s perfect for couples who want genuine connection, extra attention, and a custom experience. Erik Davidson Photography focus on Photography coverage and hybrid videography coverage. I do not offer stand alone Videography at this time and would offer to work with you under the ApertureAlley brand to get your videography needs met!

In short:

Both options are led by me and share the same commitment to quality, but ApertureAlley offers the power of a team and high-volume capability for videography, while Erik Davidson Photography is all about a personal touch and more focused attention on your day for photography.
